Kyoto Tower and the main city-bus terminal mark the Karasuma/north side. The Hachijo exits mark the south side, close to many Shinkansen approaches, Kintetsu and south-side hotels. A Shinkansen arrival does not automatically choose Hachijo, and a famous temple does not automatically require a bus from Kyoto Station. Match the address to north or south, then choose the operator and final district.

Is Karasuma Exit the same as the Central Exit?
The main JR Central Gate opens toward the Karasuma/north side, but Kyoto Station has several named gates and levels. Match the exact gate shown on the current JR West map instead of treating every “central” sign as one doorway.
Should every sightseeing trip begin at the city-bus terminal?
No. Kyoto’s official guide recommends combining rail and bus and using stations such as Tofukuji, Nijo, Enmachi or Yamashina when they fit the district. Compare the complete route before joining a queue.
Can I see live coin-locker availability?

Is there one step-free route across every operator?

Where should a group meet at Kyoto Station?
Share the operator, named gate, inside or outside the paid area, floor and one permanent landmark. “Kyoto Station” or “the central exit” alone can leave people on different levels.
What should I do after leaving from the wrong side?
