01 · THE SMALL MENTAL MAP
Two terminals, one Access Plaza and four regional exits
Access Plaza is the hinge for Terminal 1, the railway, buses, cars and the boat passage. Terminal 2 adds a real covered walk and may have different bus stopping patterns.
Terminal 1
The main passenger terminal connects to Access Plaza by a covered passage. Keep domestic or international floor and airline visible; a building name does not identify the check-in zone.
Confirm today’s terminal and floor from the operating flight.Access Plaza and Centrair Airport Station
This elevated hinge connects Terminal 1 with Meitetsu, buses, taxis, cars and the passage toward the boat. A mode icon is the start of a decision, not proof that its product reaches the final address.
Choose destination and product before crossing a ticket gate or boarding line.Terminal 2
Terminal 2 is reached from the station and Access Plaza by a covered pedestrian route. Count the whole walk with luggage and do not assume every airport bus stops at the same terminal.
A Centrair arrival is not complete until the correct terminal door.High-speed boat landing and road side
A connecting passage leads from Access Plaza toward the Tsu boat. It is a distinct marine journey with its own operator, weather, reservation and connection buffer—not a scenic extension of the railway.
Confirm current sailing and the journey after Tsu before committing.CHOOSE ONE CARD FOR THIS MOMENT

02 · AIRCRAFT TO PUBLIC SIDE
Read arrival as six one-way boundaries.
Resolve baggage, declarations and connections before leaving the responsible area, then reconfirm the terminal and transport on the public side.
- 01
Health quarantine
If you feel unwell, speak to the responsible officer before continuing. Current health requirements belong to the official authority, not to a saved post.
- 02
Immigration
Keep your passport and official arrival preparation ready. Visit Japan Web can support eligible procedures, but the route assigned today remains the authority.
- 03
Baggage claim
Match the flight number to the carousel and the tag to the bag. Report missing or damaged checked baggage before leaving the controlled claim area.
- 04
Plant and animal quarantine
Fruit, seeds, vegetables, meat products and other controlled items may need inspection and documents. A souvenir or snack is not automatically exempt.
- 05
Customs
Follow the current declaration route for your case. If an item, value or unaccompanied bag is uncertain, ask before crossing the final customs boundary.
- 06
Public arrival area
Reconfirm Terminal 1 or 2. At the public side, move toward Access Plaza only after choosing Meitetsu, the exact bus, official road transport or the current Tsu boat.

These links use BASE station IDs. English names help with trip planning; the Japanese source wording is kept so you can match signs and the BASE record. Each BASE page also leads to nearby medical facilities with published location data. Check official opening hours and access conditions.

03 · PRODUCTS, NOT JUST VEHICLES
Turn a vehicle name into a product that reaches the final address.
Compare ticket, seat, stops, baggage, transfer, current operation and final walk—not speed alone.
Meitetsu μSKY
A reserved-seat journey toward Meitetsu NagoyaμSKY is an all-first-class airport train. Riding it requires the normal railway fare plus a first-class μticket with a seat assignment. Match both products and the city-side station.
Other Meitetsu airport trains
A flexible rail journey with the correct serviceLimited and other services have different stopping patterns and may mix first-class and ordinary cars. Check destination, class, stop and whether a μticket is needed for the chosen car.
Airport bus and regional coach
A useful direct district or regional stopBuses can serve Nagoya districts, Aichi cities and other regional directions. Confirm today’s route, terminal stop, reservation, luggage and final walking side; some routes do not use Terminal 2.
High-speed boat to Tsu
A confirmed Mie-side journeyThe boat crosses Ise Bay to Tsu in Mie. It can remove a long land detour, but weather, current sailing, reservation, baggage and the connection after the landing must all work.
Official taxi, hire car or rental car
Prepared travel where transfers are costlyRoad transport can fit groups, equipment or dispersed destinations. Confirm the official provider, full address, licence, insurance, child restraint, tolls, weather, parking and driver fatigue.
| Destination | Compare first | Decision note |
|---|---|---|
| Meitetsu Nagoya / exact city district | Meitetsu μSKY | Add the transfer through the large station or choose a useful direct bus. |
| JR Nagoya / Shinkansen transfer | Meitetsu μSKY | Airport rail and Shinkansen are separate operators and products. |
| Toyota / Tokoname / Aichi cities | Airport bus and regional coach | A prefecture-scale trip needs an exact stop and last segment. |
| Gifu / Takayama / Hida | Airport bus and regional coach | “Takayama” begins with a long regional segment, not a city transfer. |
| Tsu / Ise / Mie | High-speed boat to Tsu | Treat the marine and land legs as separate accountable segments. |
This is not a live route including arrival, waits, walking, crowds or disruption.
04 · RECOVERY BELONGS INSIDE THE ROUTE
Keep the owner of each problem and a staffed recovery point.
Recover late night, weather, children, assistance, connections and baggage separately.
The useful onward product has ended
Remain at a staffed public place. Separate terminal access from travel to Nagoya and from the later regional connection; compare the next service, official road transport or a confirmed stay.
Wind, rain or snow breaks different segments
Check the flight, airport operation, Meitetsu, bus operator, boat, roads and mountain destination separately. A working train does not certify the boat or Hida road.
A child needs a reset before the regional leg
Feed, change, use the toilet and rearrange essentials before entering a reserved train, long coach, boat or Terminal 2 walk.
Assistance changes owner at Access Plaza
Pre-arrange airline and airport support, then confirm the handoff to Meitetsu, bus, boat or vehicle and the destination-side station, curb or hotel.
Domestic and international connection
Follow the airlines’ current sequence for arrival, baggage, entry, check-in and security. Terminal proximity does not decide through-baggage or protected connection status.
A bag is missing, delayed or too difficult to carry
Report checked-bag trouble before leaving the responsible claim area. On the public side compare staffed storage or delivery by provider, deadline and the exact regional destination.
FACILITIES · BUILDING, FLOOR, SIDE, TIME
Turn facility existence into a usable plan.
Add provider, eligibility, capacity, deadline and onward journey to the current map.
Airport and tourist information
Ask a staffed desk to confirm terminal, train product, bus stop, boat passage or the next regional operator before paying or leaving the covered route.
Baggage delivery, storage and lockers
A baggage service can protect a Nagoya-station transfer or a long regional journey. Confirm terminal, public or gate side, acceptance time, delivery day, provider and accommodation reception.
Connectivity, charging and offline handoff
Save the Japanese address, terminal, operator, reserved train or boat proof and a fallback. The regional journey should survive a flat battery at Nagoya or Tsu.
Bath, rest, food and observation spaces
Centrair has airport-as-destination spaces as well as travel facilities. Use them only inside a protected connection or departure buffer and recheck the location, side and current hours.
Family rooms, children’s spaces and supplies
Reset before the Terminal 2 walk or regional segment. Confirm stroller ownership, child seat, food conditions and toilets after the next station, bus or boat landing.
05 · THE GROUND BENEATH THE GATEWAY
Read the place and time beneath the convenience.
Read the airport through its relationship with land, sea, industry, war, movement and everyday life.
A new central-Japan gateway is proposed
Regional discussion about a new international airport developed over decades as the limits and impacts of the earlier airport were debated.
A regional operating company is formed
Central Japan International Airport Company was established in 1998, joining national, local and private stakeholders around one infrastructure project.
An airport island rises beside Tokoname
Revetment and island construction reshaped the Ise Bay edge. Today’s short covered passages sit on a large engineered relationship between sea, logistics and community.
Centrair opens before Expo 2005 Aichi
The airport opened on 17 February 2005, shortly before Expo 2005 Aichi. The timing placed the gateway inside a regional effort to welcome the world.
A gateway tied to manufacturing
Special cargo operations for large aircraft components made the airport part of central Japan’s manufacturing story, not only a passenger doorway.
Terminal 2 widens the passenger landscape
Terminal 2 opened in 2019. Its separate walk is a small but important reminder that infrastructure growth creates new choices and new accessibility work.
THE RETURN JOURNEY
On departure day, work back to the correct check-in—not the airport name.
Freeze flight, Terminal 1 or 2 and airline deadlines. Add mountain or marine weather, road or rail disruption, transfers, the Terminal 2 walk, baggage and assistance; place airport food and shopping only inside the remaining protected buffer.
- Confirm terminal and side from today’s flight
- Work backward from airline deadlines
- Add regional disruption and last service
- Keep food and shopping inside the protected buffer
