THE 30-SECOND DECISION
Sakae Station is a Nagoya Municipal Subway interchange on the Higashiyama and Meijo lines. It is not part of Nagoya Station. From Nagoya Station, the Higashiyama Line is the simple direct subway connection; before leaving Sakae’s paid area, match the destination to a landmark side such as Oasis 21 and Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER rather than following the nearest exit.
Nagoya Station gathers the Shinkansen, JR and several other operators. Sakae is a downtown shopping, business and culture district. When a booking says Sakae, do not start by searching Nagoya Station for a Sakae exit.
At the subway entrance, match Nagoya Municipal Subway, Higashiyama Line and Sakae on the current platform display. Do not follow a yellow-looking colour alone: operator, line name, destination side and stop belong to one decision.
For Oasis 21, MIRAI TOWER and the northern side of Sakae, follow the current signs for that landmark group; Oasis 21 is directly connected near the east ticket-gate side. For another address, keep its Japanese name visible and use the current station map rather than assuming every Sakae attraction shares one exit.
Official city guidance describes Fushimi between Nagoya Station and Sakae. If the destination sits west of central Sakae, compare Fushimi before adding an underground walk from Sakae. The right station is the one that fits the door, luggage and step-free path.

No. Nagoya Station is the main intercity gateway. Sakae is a separate subway station and downtown district. Connect them on the Nagoya Municipal Subway rather than searching for an internal passage between the two.
The Higashiyama Line connects them directly. At the station, confirm the operator, line name, direction and Sakae on the live platform display before entering the gate.
Choose by the current landmark signs, not a memorised exit number. Official visitor guidance describes Oasis 21 as directly connected near Sakae Station’s east ticket gate. Construction or a lift route can change the practical path, so use the current map and ask staff when needed.
Fushimi lies between Nagoya Station and Sakae and can fit destinations on the western side of the downtown area. Compare the full address and entrance; do not choose from the neighbourhood name alone.
Confirm the whole chain with Nagoya City Transportation Bureau: arriving carriage and platform, lift, ticket gate, street exit and the final crossing or building entrance. A lift shown somewhere in the station does not prove that it reaches your destination side.

Open the destination address in Japanese and confirm whether your first useful connection is Nagoya Subway. Keep the building or district with the station name.
Match company, destination and floor with the address—not with the crowd. Even within a route toward Nagoya, leaving on the wrong side can create a long return with luggage.
Step out of the flow before crossing another gate and stay on the side you can still identify. Show staff the destination and ask only for the next boundary. Same-day construction and service notices take priority over this article.
