TRIP POCKET
Keep this page in your Trip Pocket, ready for the moment the signal fades.
For Yamato Airport TA-Q-BIN, send your suitcase by the local cutoff at least two days before departure, or three days from some areas. It must reach Narita by the day before your flight; you collect it on departure day. If you fly tomorrow, do not assume ordinary next-day delivery meets this service’s deadline. Confirm the actual sending date with Yamato before handing over the bag.
01
Confirm the flight and sending cutoff together
- Show your flight date, flight number and terminal to the sending counter or hotel. Ask for the latest handover date and time for that location, plus confirmation that the bag will reach Narita by the previous day.
- Ask the hotel whether it handles this service and when you must leave the suitcase with reception. A hotel handover time and the carrier’s dispatch cutoff may differ; opening hours alone do not answer either question.
- Keep your passport, medicines, valuables and clothes for the remaining nights with you. Keep the sender’s waybill receipt outside the suitcase, too: Yamato asks for it in exchange for the bag at the airport.
02
Collect the bag before airline check-in
- Use the pickup counter for the service written on your waybill. Yamato’s list distinguishes pickup from sending: Narita T1 north and south wings list pickup on 4F, T2 on 3F, and T3 on 1F. Save the matching map and confirm current opening hours before sending.
- Compare the counter’s opening time with your airline’s check-in and bag-drop deadline. Leave time to collect the suitcase and carry it to check-in; airport delivery does not complete airline bag drop.
- Yamato’s procedure allows a departure date up to 10 days after shipping and requires a flight from that airport on collection day. Confirm the dates when sending early; this is not an unrestricted airport storage service.

I am departing from Narita on this flight. By when must I hand over my luggage? Please also tell me the pickup counter’s location and hours.Three dates for a 1 February departure
| Send by the local cutoff | Airport arrival | Collect before check-in |

| From Hokkaido: 29 January | By 31 January | 1 February, departure day |
04 · A WORKED EXAMPLE
The hotel is open, but today’s dispatch has closed
Suppose your flight is on 1 February and the Tokyo hotel has confirmed a 30 January handover cutoff. You return from sightseeing after that cutoff. Leaving the case at reception that evening does not establish that it has entered the agreed dispatch.
Agree the handover time while planning your last sightseeing day. Keep the bag until staff can confirm a service that fits the flight.
05 · MAKE THE DECISION USEFUL
If the flight or collection plan changes
Once the suitcase has left, use the waybill number to ask Yamato about that shipment.
A new flight date or terminal
Contact Yamato with the original and revised flight details before going to another counter. Ask where and when the bag can be collected; a flight change does not itself confirm a delivery change.
A very early flight
Check counter opening hours before sending. If you cannot collect the suitcase and meet the airline’s deadline, keep it with you or arrange another confirmed option. Do not build the plan around an unconfirmed early opening.
