Will your suitcase reach the next hotel in time?
Confirm the hotel can receive it, then check the shipping deadline and arrival date. Same-day dispatch does not mean same-day delivery.

You leave one hotel this morning and sleep in another tonight. Do not send your suitcase on the assumption that it will follow you today. Ask the receiving hotel first, then have the carrier confirm the arrival date for the service and counter you will use. Same-day dispatch means the parcel starts its journey that day; same-day delivery is a separate, limited service. Keep what you need until the confirmed arrival with you.

Do this first
- Ask the next hotel whether it accepts luggage before you arrive, and when you can collect it. Show your booking name and check-in date.
- Show the full destination address at the sending counter. Ask for the delivery date, drop-off deadline and payment method before handing over the bag.
- Put your passport, medicines, valuables and enough clothes for the gap in a small bag you will carry. Do this before sealing the suitcase.
- Keep the waybill receipt and tracking number. Tell the receiving hotel the agreed arrival date; check the carrier’s updates if travel is disrupted.

What to expect in Japan
- Yamato’s hotel-delivery FAQ asks guests to send before the local cut-off at least two days before check-in, or three days for some destinations. Use this as a planning lead time and confirm your actual service with the counter.
- The same FAQ says accommodation deliveries cannot use payment on delivery and that delivery times cannot be specified. Do not build your plan around a hotel paying the charge or an exact arrival hour.
- Yamato offers a separate same-day service between selected airport or station counters and supported destinations. The counter, destination and deadline all matter; being in the same city is not enough.
- The round-trip product is for travel between home and accommodation or leisure facilities. Its schedule is useful context, but it is not automatically the right product for a hotel-to-hotel journey.

One night without the suitcase
Imagine you leave Hotel A on Monday, spend one night at B and stay at C from Tuesday. If delivery to B cannot be confirmed before you leave it, ask C whether it can receive the bag instead. This is a planning example, not a promise of delivery on Tuesday.
Write the carrier’s arrival date beside your hotel nights. A convenient sending counter helps only if there is somewhere to receive the bag when it arrives.

Four changes that alter the plan
Decide where the bag will meet you before choosing the service.
You miss the sending deadline
Ask for a new arrival date. A counter may still be open after its last dispatch, so opening hours alone do not settle the question.
You need it tonight
Use a same-day option only after the counter confirms eligibility and the deadline. Keep tonight’s essentials with you even then.
There is no staffed reception
Contact the accommodation about receipt arrangements. A booking alone does not establish that someone can take delivery.
You leave the next morning
A next-day arrival may still be too late. Compare the delivery date with your checkout and ask about another destination.
