Ask the airline at the first check-in whether bags are checked to the final destination, whether entry and customs are required, whether a boarding pass is issued and whether the connection is protected. KIX warns that some itineraries require passengers to exit arrivals and complete departure again. If T1 and T2 are involved, add the approximately four-kilometre separation, free public shuttle, seven-to-nine-minute representative ride and every check-in or security deadline. Separate tickets need a self-transfer plan, not optimism.

These are KIX-specific comparison clues, not a fixed route. Match them to today’s flight, access side, time and product.
The onward flight is in another terminal
Ask the airline whether bags are checked through and whether you must enter Japan or recheck. T1 and T2 are about four kilometres apart, and the free public shuttle is not a substitute for an airline-protected connection.
Digital map and information desks
KIX discontinued its old floor-guide PDF in favour of the current digital map. Search by terminal, building, floor and public or gate area, then use an information desk if the physical clues disagree.
Immigration
Keep passport and official arrival preparation ready. KIX describes integrated kiosks for supported Visit Japan Web procedures, but eligibility, operating hours and the route assigned by the kiosk can change.
Baggage claim
Match the flight number to the carousel, then the tag to the bag. Report missing or damaged checked baggage to the airline or handler before leaving the controlled claim area.
Customs
Follow the current declaration route indicated for your case. If an item, value or unaccompanied bag is uncertain, ask before passing the final customs boundary.
Public arrival area
Now confirm T1 or T2 again. T1 can continue toward station, buses and Aeroplaza; T2 needs its own bus-stop or shuttle decision before any rail result becomes usable.

Both flights appear on one itinerary screen, but the next airline uses another terminal and the bag tag does not show the final airport. The word “connection” has not answered the operational questions.
