TX Asakusa and Tobu Asakusa are separate stations. For a Tobu limited express booked from Asakusa to Nikko, leave the TX gates and walk to Tobu Asakusa at 1-4-1 Hanakawado. TX lists exit A1 for Tobu Asakusa. Reaching the street is only part of the transfer: leave time for the walk, ticket checks and boarding.
01
Set the destination to Tobu Asakusa
- Check that the reservation says Asakusa as the departure station. Open the two official station maps below before leaving TX; a map search for “Asakusa Station” alone can select the wrong railway.
- After exiting TX, use the A1 signs for Tobu Asakusa and follow a street route to the Hanakawado address. Do not follow signs for a subway platform. Check the walking route from your actual exit, including road crossings.
- Compare the remaining time with the booked departure. A street-map estimate omits the trip from the TX platform to the street and the final boarding checks. Crowds, luggage and lift use can add time; this guide does not promise a minimum connection.
02
At Tobu, check both tickets
- For the limited express journey, you need the basic fare as well as the limited express reservation. An eligible fare ticket, IC card or NIKKO PASS covers the fare under its own conditions; the seat reservation alone does not.
- Tobu’s boarding guide lists platforms 3 and 4 for Asakusa limited expresses, with a reservation check near their entrance. Match the current departure display, train name, car and seat to your booking. Keep the group together for the check.

04 · A WORKED EXAMPLE
A meeting pin at the wrong Asakusa
Suppose one traveller has reached Tobu while another is still at TX. Sending “I am at Asakusa” does not resolve the gap. Send the operator name and a map pin before either person moves.
Choose the meeting point at the station where the booked train leaves. Confirm whether it is outside the gates so nobody buys a ticket just to find the other person.
05 · MAKE THE DECISION USEFUL
If stairs or a late arrival change the plan
Check the part of the journey that the street map cannot settle.
You need a lift
Both official station pages list lifts, but that does not establish a continuous step-free transfer. Ask TX staff for the current platform-to-street route, then Tobu staff for the street-to-platform route. Check crossings and any assistance needed between them; do not assume the A1 sign identifies the lift exit.
The booked departure is too close
Stop somewhere safe to check the booking provider’s change options before departure. Conditions depend on the ticket and purchase channel. If the train has already left, ask Tobu what can be used or purchased next; do not board another limited express on the assumption that the old reservation transfers.
