KANTO
Toge no KamameshiA clay pot remembers the long pause before trains crossed Usui Pass.
Oginoya began station sales when Yokokawa opened in 1885; the famous pot meal arrived in 1958 after listening to passengers who wanted warmth and something memorable. The old locomotive ritual has gone, but the vessel still lets modern travellers hold the geography of a difficult pass.

BUY · BOARD · OPEN · LEAVE NO TRACE
Make this box part of the journey, not a travel problem.
Find it at the station
Official sales points change. Check the maker’s current notice; do not assume it will be at every nearby Shinkansen kiosk.
Let the train decide
The ceramic pot is heavy and breakable. Place it on a full table, keep the pickles controlled and plan whether the empty pot joins your luggage.
Let the current label win
Chicken, mushroom and soy-seasoned sides are expected; wheat, soy and other allergens vary. A reusable pot does not mean the food keeps longer.
The box continues after lunch
Control lid, chopsticks, packets, heating material and vessel separately. Never force them into a small onboard bin; seal any keepsake against leaks and aroma before packing.
COMPARE, DO NOT RANK
Place a neighbour beside it and the region sharpens.
Daruma Bento is the closest container conversation. Choose the pot for dashi rice and pass history; choose daruma for Takasaki identity and lighter carrying decisions.
THE PACKAGE IS THE LAST WORD
The package in your hand is newer than this guide.
Chicken, mushroom and soy-seasoned sides are expected; wheat, soy and other allergens vary. A reusable pot does not mean the food keeps longer.
With a serious allergy, do not use category, image or translation as a safety decision. Compare the maker’s current information, package and staff response; keep the option not to eat if shared production cannot be confirmed.
